Welcome to the first of many blog posts about East Manchester Table Tennis Club and everything associated with it!
EMTTC was recently founded by my friend Iain and I (Steven), two passionate table tennis players who grew up playing the sport together throughout school. Iain lived in China for over 6 years and recently moved back to England, and chose Manchester as his base to move back to. I’ve lived in Manchester for a while now so naturally we met up when he landed back in England. After a catch up we decided that we should try and find somewhere to play table tennis. At this point I had not played seriously (and regrettably) for about 10 years. Iain’s break from the game was significantly less than that.
After looking for places to play we identified that the most convenient place for us both to play based on where we both live was at the Belle Vue Leisure centre. After going a few times and getting to know the staff and manager there, and after long discussions and help and support from various people EMTTC was born.
Whilst we are only a small venture at present we hope to expand in the future. Our first goal is to enter a team in the Manchester Table Tennis League for the 2015-2016 season, which will start about September 2015.
